
Carter was accused of shooting Collier in a home on Roy Bates road
in the Noxapater area on February 12, 2017. Carter turned himself in to a Leake County
Deputy after a week-long manhunt across Winston County that included the US
Marshal Service and the Mississippi Highway Patrol as well as Winston County
Law Enforcement.
On Monday in a Winston County Courtroom, Carter was convicted of second degree murder,
aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a felon. The counts carry
terms of 40, 20 and 10 years.
