New Children’s Literacy Program in Winston County

The Winston County Library is starting a new Children’s Literacy Program in Winston County. Librarian Beth Edwards recently donated children’s books to a local barber shop, Uptown Cutz, located on West Main Street. “I would like to encourage any barber shop owner in Louisville and in Winston County to contact us to receive free children’s books,” said Edwards. “This is a wonderful way to promote reading at an early age. Children can read while waiting on their parent to get a haircut or while they are waiting to get their own hair cut. It has been a very successful program in other cities.” Shown here are two year-old E. J. Hoskins, son of Adrian and Eric Hoskins; Uptown Cutz owner Bernard Lanier and Winston County Librarian Beth Edwards. Contact the library at 662-773-3212 or e-mail us at winston@mmrls.lib.ms.us.
