Christine Waldrip – Women History Month Celebrity
On Saturday, March 16, 2019, Christine Waldrip celebrated her 90th Birthday with family and friends at the Mt. Olive Bethel Harmony Building. It was supposed to be a surprise but she found out by mistake from a friend. Mrs. Waldrip is known throughout the county and surrounding counties for her participation in Friends of Dean Park, Inc., Coalition for Healthy Living, TRIAD, Winston County Self-Help Coalition, NAACP, Winston County Voters’ League, and AARP. She is known best for her gardening. She grows some of the largest veggies in the county and she continues to can vegetables, fruits and soup in jars. Mrs. Waldrip is very energetic and no one believes she is 90 years old. She is truly loved by her community.

She was born March 16, 1929 in Winston County and has lived here all of her life. She had her children and other visitors to attend her party from California, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Also, grandchildren were there from the country Italy. She is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church with Evangelist Rochelle Minor as pastor. The photo below is of her 10 children who attended the party. She has two deceased sons – Andrew and William Red.
