Spring Beautification Day with Walmart at Dean Park

On Good Friday, April 19, 2019, approximately sixty people came to Dean Park for the Spring Beautification Day on a chilly windy rainy day. Flowers were transplanted in beds and along the sidewalk to the pavilion by State Champions Louisville Wildcats girls and their coaches Hunter, Davis and Miller. Pine cones and pine needles were racked from around and near the playground. However, the rain deterred those who wanted to paint the swings and replace mulch on the playground.

This event was sponsored by Friends of Dean Park, Inc. and Walmart #183. Manager Matthew Wisecup and volunteers from Walmart prepared and served food which consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs polish sausage, nachos and cheese and assorted drinks.

Manager Wisecup took the opportunity at the event to present three community grants and later stated on Walmart’s Face book page, “We were honored to support the Spring Beautification Day at Dean Park and proud of our associates and community for coming together for such a worthy cause. Special thanks to our Louisville basketball team for their help at this event! Walmart is also excited to provide our annual community grants to the Louisville Fire Dept, Junior Auxiliary, and Friends of Dean Park!”
