Kids Program and Activities at the Pavilion
located below the CCC Lodge

9 - 10 AM
Allen Winters, a professional artist, engraver, and
traditional Choctaw flute maker, will entertain both the kids
and adults with his gifted Native American Story Telling
skills. Allen is the fourth great-grandson of Choctaw Chief
Mushulatubi and will describe the Choctaw culture in story
and song with his hand made flutes. Allen will also be
joined with Festival musicians to play and sing with the kids.
Each child will receive a bamboo flute as a momento of the
Legion Park Music Festival. This was a great hit at last years

10 - 11:30 AM   The Rabbit Stick Hunter
For some of the youth, this may be the first time of
experiencing Choctaw hunting in the traditional form. Learn
about a truly unique hunting technique used by the ancient
Choctaws to secure food. Learn the technique of making and
using a rabbit stick and enjoying a great game teaching the
kids about one of the oldest hunting techniques know. Our
host will be a representative from the Choctaw Wildlife and
Parks from Philadelphia, MS.

Winston Web News is a proud sponsor of this year's "Runnin n Strummin" Legion Park Music
Festival. As part of our sponsorship, we will be providing info on performers and events leading up to this weekend's Festival. The Festival is an all day event but once tickets are purchased, the public is welcome to come and go as needed. There will be food vendors on hand, craft demonstrations and kids programs. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Kids under 15 are free and encouraged to participate in our morning programs. Advance tickets are available at our offices at 875 S. Columbus and at Winston Furniture Company on Main Street in Louisville.
