Legion Park Music Festival Set for Sept 28

The 2nd Annual “Runnin' n’ Strummin' – Legion State Park Music Festival is fast approaching.The
 two-day event, scheduled for Friday Evening September 27th and all day and evening on Saturday, September 28 will be held in the shaded confines and the historic CCC Lodge of Legion State Park located on N. Columbus Avenue in Louisville.

The Friday Evening Pre-Festival Event will include dining and music at beautiful Lake Tiak O’Khata. The trio of “Thirty Fingers” is scheduled to perform easy listening and classic rock from 6 - 9. These tickets are available at the locations below, as well as Lake Tiak O’Khata. Tickets are limited for this Pre-Festival event so make your plans now.
The Reed Brothers

The morning kicks off early as runners register for the 5K Runnin’ n’ Strummin’ Race scheduled for 9:00 am. Applications and more info are available on the website.

There is a full musical line-up at the Lodge following an opening ceremony at 8 am and music beginning at 8:30 with acts such as “The Reed Brothers, Alan Sibley and the Magnolia Ramblers, The Darden Sisters with Jeremy Jernigan and the Starkville Dulcimers.

At lunch time, the music venue moves to the outdoor venue ‘In The Pines’ where food and craft vendors will be available. Performers include Estes Switch, Jodie Ross, Wes Stapp and Ken Sanders, Tracy McCully, Jeffrey Rupp’s Mississippi Blues Band, Dallas Dixon, Jeanne & Daryl Jones and Chuck Luke. Also on hand, will be Alan Winters, a Native American flutist.

As the afternoon winds down we will move from the ‘In The Pines Venue’ back to the acoustically
unique CCC Lodge where Sciples Mill Opry with Seth Holmes will open our evening Jam Session. The evening events in the Lodge are scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm. Bring your guitar, harp, banjo or just your own self to sing and clap along.

There will be a variety of programs available during the day for the kids as well.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, your kids, granny, pawpaw and cousin Cletus and plan to make a day of it at Legion State Park on Saturday, September 28 for a "rip-roarin" good time.
