Molly May Book Party

Mississippi author Molly May stopped by the Winston County Library Tuesday, 10/22/19, to talk about her new book My Crowning Achievement: Beating Breast Cancer. Beginning with the Miss Preteen America pageant at the age of twelve, Molly has won one competition after another – Miss Dixie’s Outstanding Teen, Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen, Miss Belle of the Bayou, Miss Amory, Miss Mississippi State University and she has placed twice in the Top Ten and twice in the Top Five while competing for the title of Miss Mississippi.

Raised by a single mother battling breast cancer, Molly was diagnosed with breast cancer at age nineteen. Through all the pain and heartache, this remarkable young woman, who is now twenty-five, has taken one of life’s greatest challenges and turned it into a heartwarming platform – a never-ending desire to provide cancer patients with love a support. “We were so amazed by her poise, her confidence and her passion for speaking about life before, during and after cancer,” said librarian Beth Edwards. “She is passionate about helping others and offering encouragement. She told me that October is her favorite month – National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!”
